JULIAN has been working as a screenwriter since discovering their love for it during his sophomore year at The Pennsylvania State University. He chose to take a creative writing course and learned that he could tell the stories that flew around in his head. They couldn’t find the perfect place for their storytelling until they took a television writing course, and they absolutely fell in love with television's structure and form. Since he was young, he didn’t understand that he had these, as his family called them, fantasies that were going through his brain, and not everyone had a new story for every situation.
For JULIAN, screenwriting came along at the perfect time, when he was learning to understand his mental health and place on the autism spectrum. He had been using this skill as a way to survive and understand a world that didn’t quite work for them. Learning this new avenue to tell his stories has given him the best gift, a place in the world where they feel like they belong.
As a screenwriter, JULIAN wants to develop all the stories that bounce around in their brain. He loves to take a story or character and build a whole world around them. This winter, he decided to work on an episode of "Bob's Burgers", created by Loren Bouchard, which he believes is a beautifully crafted show, where he could see his character-based writing come together to create a fantastic episode. The goal right now is to build their portfolio to be considered for a show and to work in a television writers' room.
JULIAN uses their writing to tell the stories they feel need to be told, and they love the power television has to represent people on screen. He remembers seeing queer characters on television and realizing that he was not broken but was just as valid a human as his heterosexual and cisgendered peers. Their dream is for just one person to watch his show and see a character who understands them and helps them recognize that they are human, just like everyone else.
JULIAN is an American Screenwriter based in Ardmore, PA. An aspiring writer who has started developing his style of diverse characters based on the storylines of his journey to find a home for his screenwriting. In his new script, “Afternotes” brings the viewer into a world of traumatic fantasy. Afternotes coming from deceased strangers and loved ones, changing lives in their wake. "Afternotes" is a new Finalist in The Los Angeles Screenplay Awards Fall 2024.
